SCF Faculty Recital to Feature Pianist Aza Torshkoeva

(Bradenton, Fla., September 12, 2014) – State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota (SCF) music faculty member Aza Torshkoeva will perform in a piano recital at 8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 25, at SCF Bradenton, 5840 26th St. W., in Neel Performing Arts Center, building 11 East.

Torshkoeva will present an extensive variety of forms, styles, genres and virtuosity to represent the beauty of classical music, including Rachmanioff’s “Vocalise,” Beethoven’s “Waldstein” (Piano Sonata No. 21),” Liszt’s Piano Sonata in b-minor and Chopin’s Nocturne in c sharp minor.

A native of Russia, Torshkoeva attended the College of Music in Petropavlosk-Kamchatskiy, Russia, and the School of Music in Professional Education of Piano Playing in Elizovo, Russia. Torshkoeva was the winner of the Florida Orchestra’s Concerto Competition as well as more than 30 Russian regional and international piano competitions, a prize winner of the International Piano Competition in Finland, and winner of the Piano Competition in Florida. She was the recipient of the Presidential Scholarship from the president of Russia and included in the Encyclopedia of the Most Talented Children of Russia. Torshkoeva was an accompanist at the University of South Florida’s (USF) School of Music. She received her master’s degree in piano performance from USF.
