SCF Foundation Receives More Than $26,000 in Scholarships

(Bradenton, Fla., September 12, 2014) — State College of Florida Foundation (SCFF) received $26,206 in scholarships from the Florida College System (FCS) Foundation to prepare students for careers in education and health care. Twenty SCF students will benefit from the gift.

FCS Chancellor Randy Hanna presented the check to SCF President Dr. Carol F. Probstfeld on Wednesday, Sept. 3.

The scholarship awards include:

  • $11,131 from the Florida Blue Scholarship, which was established by Blue Cross and Blue Shield to support students in the areas of nursing and allied health. The dollars are matched by Emil H. Beck and Rose Anne Beck, who are valuable benefactors to the SCF Foundation.
  • $10,748 from the Helios Education Foundation Scholarship, which will be awarded to first-generation-in-college students who are preparing to become teachers in Florida.
  • $4,327 from the Dream Maker Scholarship, established by Bank of America, which will be awarded to first-generation-in-college students to cover tuition, books, fees and child care.

Scholarships are awarded annually to all of the 28 FCS colleges by the FCS Foundation, which supports the comprehensive mission of the FCS and its students.
