SCF Workforce Solutions Offers Export Basics Workshop and Panel Discussion

(Bradenton, Fla., September 26, 2014) — State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota (SCF) Workforce Solutions, in partnership with the Economic Development Corporation of Sarasota County, The Bradenton Area Economic Development Corporation, Enterprise Florida Inc. and the U.S. Commercial Service, will present Export Basics Level I 8:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 8, at SCF Lakewood Ranch, 7131 Professional Pkwy. E.

The event includes a workshop and panel discussion for companies that are interested in launching or expanding the export of goods or services from Florida.

The workshop will teach participants how to start selling to markets they thought were not accessible. They also will learn how to prepare their company for exporting, identify target markets where their product can be sold, understand the regulations and common practices for selling internationally, identify appropriate channels and channel partners, calculate the landed cost for their products in the target market, and learn the options for receiving payment from international buyers.

The following is the event schedule:

  • 8:30 a.m.-noon, presentation by Enterprise Florida Inc.;
  • Noon, lunch;
  • 12:15-1 p.m., panel discussion by business leaders from local companies that are exporting goods from Florida, followed by a discussion on the challenges and benefits of exporting; and
  • 1-1:30 p.m., question-and–answer session.

The cost for the event, which includes lunch, is $59. Reservations are required. Participants should bring their laptops to the event or one will be provided.
