SCF Hosts Community Diabetes 5K/1-Mile Walk

(Bradenton, Fla., October 1, 2014) —State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota (SCF) will host its first American Diabetes Association Community 5K/1-Mile Walk on Saturday, Nov. 8, at SCF Bradenton, 5840 26th St. W.  The event is free and open to the public.

Registration and check-in will begin at 8 a.m. at Building 14. The first 100 walkers to sign up will receive a t-shirt.

At 9 a.m., an opening ceremony at the performance pavilion will feature a welcome from SCF President Dr. Carol F. Probstfeld, brief remarks by a representative from Blake Medical Center and a warm-up presentation by a New Balance representative. The walk will begin at the SCF Collegiate School, building 19. 

Sponsors include Blake Medical Center, New Balance Sarasota University Park, Back in Motion Physical Therapy and The Eye Associates.

SCF is participating in the Diabetes Walk as part of its ongoing Pride in Wellness initiative. Click here to register for the walk or support the SCF Manatees team. There is no registration fee, but a $5 donation per person is appreciated.
