SCF Sponsors MLK Day of Service Jan. 19

(Bradenton, Fla., October 21, 2014) — For the second year, State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota (SCF) will sponsor a community MLK Day of Service on Monday, Jan. 19, joining a nationwide effort to transform the federal holiday honoring Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. into a day of community service.

Through funding from the Florida Legislature, SCF is providing opportunities for a 2015 MLK Day of Service for community organizations in Manatee and Sarasota counties to complete service projects in Florida District 70. SCF is working with community agencies to blend with and enhance planned events and programs. Up to $10,000 each may be awarded to organizations for service projects that will benefit the community.

“We are pleased that Rep. Darryl Rouson has steered a portion of the allocation to SCF again this year. SCF is proud be a part of the MLK Day of Service, an important initiative that we hope will become a strong tradition in our community,” said SCF President Dr. Carol F. Probstfeld.
