SCF Brain Bowl Teams Excel at Erik Korray Brain Bowl Tournament

(Bradenton, Fla., October 27, 2014) — State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota’s (SCF) Brain Bowl teams excelled at the Erik Korray Brain Bowl Tournament held at College of Central Florida in Ocala Oct. 24-25. Out of 18 teams, SCF’s A and B teams placed second and third, respectively.

Students also performed well in individual competitions. SCF student Michael Moore, who leads the SCF team as a consistent top scorer in Brain Bowl tournaments, ranked second out of 64 participants. SCF students Paul Foerster ranked seventh, and Naimul Chowdhury ranked eighth.

Other players included SCF students Adriana Souza, Matthew Willman, Ariel Watsky, Michael Freedman, Leon Hostetler, Jonathan Willman, Jorge Carrasco and SCFCS students Colin Wong, Quentin Ferring, Kara Stevens and Olivia Doronio.

Christina Dwyer, SCF assistant professor, mathematics, and Hyun Kim, assistant professor, art, design, humanities, are the teams’ coaches.
