SCF Master Class to Feature Actress/Soprano Klea Blackhurst

(Bradenton, Fla., Oct. 30, 2014) – State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota (SCF) will host a Master Class featuring actress/soprano Klea Blackhurst at 1 p.m. Monday, Nov. 17, at SCF Bradenton, 5840 26th St. W., in Neel Performing Arts Center, building 11 East.

Actress, singer and comedian Blackhurst has appeared on Broadway, television and concert stages worldwide. She is best known for her tribute to Ethel Merman, “Everything the Traffic Will Allow.” This production earned her the inaugural Special Achievement Award from Time Out New York magazine and the recording of “Everything Traffic Will Allow” was named one of the top 10 show albums of 2002 by TalkinBroadway.com. Blackhurst’s New York theatre credits include the recent revival of “A Tree Grows In Brooklyn,” “Bingo,” “By Jupiter,” “Radio Gals” and “Oil City Symphony.” Regional theatre credits include “Call Me Madam, “Chicago,” “The Great American Trailer Park Musical,” “Red Hot and Blue” and “Anything Goes.” TV and radio credits include “Law and Order: SVU,” “The Rosie O’Donnell Show,” “Sesame Street” and “A Prairie Home Companion.”

Blackhurst will share insights about performing while working with SCF students.The master class is presented in cooperation with the Artist Series of Sarasota.
