Pianist Aza Torshkoeva to Perform in SCF Faculty Recital

(Bradenton, Fla., Sept. 15, 2015) – State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota (SCF) music faculty member Aza Torshkoeva will perform a piano recital at 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 1, in Neel Performing Arts Center at SCF Bradenton, 5840 26th St. W.

A native of Russia, Torshkoeva attended the College of Music in Petropavlosk-Kamchatskiy, Russia, and the School of Music in Professional Education of Piano Playing in Elizovo, Russia. Torshkoeva was the winner of the Florida Orchestra’s Concerto Competition as well as more than 30 Russian regional and international piano competitions, a prize winner of the International Piano Competition in Finland, and winner of the Piano Competition in Florida. She was the recipient of the Presidential Scholarship from the president of Russia and included in the Encyclopedia of the Most Talented Children of Russia. Torshkoeva was an accompanist at the University of South Florida, Tampa’s (USF) School of Music. She received her master’s degree in piano performance from USF.

Violinist Nina Kim will be joining Torshkoeva in the program. Kim, also a native of Russia, is an award-winning musician who has performed with the Seasons Moscow chamber orchestra and was the leader of the Fiore String Trio, which performed on cruise ships around the world. Kim is pursuing her master’s degree in violin performance at the University of South Florida and serves as concertmaster of the USF Symphony Orchestra.

Also joining Torshkoeva for a duet will be Dr. Charles Turon, professor of piano and Director of Keyboard Studies and Theory at SCF.

General admission is $8; students and SCF employees, $4.
