SCF Staffers Chosen for Chambers’ Leadership Classes

(Bradenton, Fla., Sept. 18, 2015) – State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota (SCF) has three staffers who will be joining local Chamber leadership classes for 2015-16.

Brian Thomas, Special Assistant to the President for Constituent and Government Relations, has been accepted into Leadership Manatee.

Stacey Sharples, Director of Admissions, and Michele Groves, Career Center Advisor at SCF Venice, have been accepted into Leadership Sarasota County.

The Leadership programs strive to identify and inspire current and future community leaders through “class days” designed to expand participants’ awareness of the community by focusing on various aspects of their respective counties.

“As a new member of the community, this is perfect opportunity for me to not only get to know the people in Manatee County, but to gain an understanding of all the institutions that support our community,” Thomas said.

Sharples expressed similar goals for her classes in Sarasota. “I am very pleased to represent SCF in the Sarasota Leadership program,” she said. “I am excited to learn more about and better ingrain myself in my community. I look forward to sharing SCF’s mission and my passion for helping students find growth opportunities with SCF.”

Groves says she is excited to be part of Leadership Sarasota County, and is looking forward to learning more about our ever-changing area. “Connecting with leaders from a variety of industries and gaining further insight into the culture, needs and possibilities in Sarasota County will allow me to identify internship and employment opportunities that will benefit our SCF students, graduates and the community.”
