SCF Faculty Recital to Feature Soprano Martha Lopez

(Bradenton, Fla., Oct. 27, 2015) – Soprano Martha Lopez, State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota (SCF) faculty member, accompanied by pianist Lurray Myers, will present an art song recital at 8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 5, in Neel Performing Arts Center at SCF Bradenton, 5840 26th St. W.

The program, “Exsultate, Jubilate,” centers around the performance of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's famous motet by the same title, which means "Rejoice, Be Glad." Lopez also will perform works by George Frideric Händel, Gabriel Fauré, Joaquin Rodrigo, Charles Gounod and William Bolcom. 

Lopez has performed with local organizations including the Sarasota Pops Orchestra, the North Port Symphony and the St. Petersburg Opera. She earned a Bachelor of Music degree from Stetson University and a Master of Music degree from the University of South Florida.

Myers, staff accompanist for the SCF music department, earned her Masters of Music from the University of Southern California. She has worked with local organizations such as the Sarasota Opera, Gloria Musicae and the Gulf Coast Men’s Chorus, and also serves as organist for Ss. Peter and Paul the Apostles Catholic Church in Bradenton.

General admission is $8; tickets are $4 for students and SCF employees.
