SCF Workforce Solutions to Present Export Logistics Workshop Feb. 20

(Bradenton, Fla., January 27, 2015) — State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota (SCF) Workforce Solutions, in partnership with the Economic Development Corporation of Sarasota County, the Bradenton Area Economic Development Corporation, Enterprise Florida Inc. and the U.S. Department of Commerce, will present Export Logistics 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 20, at SCF Lakewood Ranch, 7131 Professional Pkwy. E.

The event, which is for companies interested in launching or expanding the export of goods or services from Florida, will explain how to increase a company’s customer base and bottom line, what to expect before the sale to increase success after the sale, and how to anticipate overall costs to ship a product to a foreign market.

This program will include:

  • Before the sale – quoting to negotiating the purchase order;
  • Negotiated purchase order in hand;
  • Time to ship and what to do next;
  • Clearing Customs; and
  • other logistics issues.

The following is the event schedule:

  • 8:30 a.m.-noon, presentation by Enterprise Florida Inc.;
  • Noon, lunch;
  • 1-2 p.m., guest presentation about custom brokering and freight forwarding by Hal Wilmot with Farris      Custom Brokers;
  • 2-4 p.m., presentation by Enterprise Florida Inc.; and
  • 4-4:30 p.m., question-and–answer session.

The cost for the event, which includes lunch, is $99. Reservations are required. Participants should bring their laptops or tablets.
