SCF Venice to Host Best-selling Author Tim Dorsey

(Bradenton, Fla., Feb. 3, 2015) – State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota (SCF) Venice Language and Literature Department will host a discussion and book signing by author Tim Dorsey at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 17, at SCF Venice, 8000 S. Tamiami Trail, building 800, Selby Room. The event is free and open to the public.

A former newspaper journalist and editor who grew up in Florida, Dorsey combines his experience covering crime and courts with his knowledge of Florida history to create light-hearted mystery novels. His novels include "Tiger Shrimp Tango," "Pineapple Grenade," "Triggerfish Twist," "When Elves Attack," "Hurricane Punch," "Atomic Lobster" and "Nuclear Jellyfish."

Dorsey will discuss his writing experience and his works, including his most recent novel, "Shark Skin Suite," which will be available for purchase.

In Dorsey’s latest work, the Sunshine State’s favorite psychotic killer and lovable Floridaphile, Serge Storms, has found a new calling, legal eagle, and he’s going to make a killing as a crusading attorney in this madcap escapade. Binging on a marathon of legal movies set in Florida, Serge becomes a freelance fixer who comes to the rescue of an old flame, young lawyer Brook Campanella. She has won a major class-action foreclosure lawsuit against big banks, who are determined to shut her down.

When it comes to swimming with the sharks, there is no bigger kahuna than Serge Storms, and there's nothing he likes better than saving a damsel in distress, especially when it means kicking a bunch of shyster butt. The mayhem comes to a hilarious head at the Key West courthouse, at the height of the island’s raucous Fantasy Fest street carnival.
