Pianist Rebecca Penneys to Present Master Class and Concert at SCF

(Bradenton, Fla., February 23, 2015) – State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota (SCF) will host pianist Rebecca Penneys for a master class and concert in Neel Performing Arts Center at SCF Bradenton, 5840 26th St. W.

Penneys will conduct a master class at 1 p.m. Monday, March 30. The public is invited to join SCF students in hearing Penneys share her insights. Admission is $5; students free.

The pianist also will give a concert with cellist Fred Gratta at 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 31.

Penneys and Gratta will perform a number of masterworks for cello and piano by Debussy, de Falla, Ravel, and Brahms.

A Steinway artist since 2003, Penneys is a professor at Eastman School of Music and artist-in-residence at St. Petersburg College, and has been a resident artist at the Chautaqua Festival since 1978. She also has hosted the Rebecca Penneys Piano Festival in 2013 and 2014 at the University of South Florida.

Gratta, principal cellist for the St. Petersburg Opera Company and Tampa Bay Symphony, will perform with Penneys. He has been a member of the Florida Orchestra since 1994, and also is an adjunct professor at SCF and Eckerd College.

Admission is $8, students $4.
