SCF Theatre Students Present “Anton in Show Business”

(Bradenton, Fla., April 10, 2015) – State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota (SCF) Theatre Department will present “Anton in Show Business” April 17-19 and April 24-26 in the David S. and Anne V. Howard Studio Theatre at SCF Bradenton, 5840 26th St. W.

Show times are 8 p.m. April 17, 18, 24 and 25, with matinees at 2 p.m. April 19 and 26. Tickets are $12; $10 for students and SCF staff.

Cast members are SCF students Marlee Abbott, Summer Begalka, Sabrina Bowen, Jaelynn Clark, J.D. Dorsey, Kimberly Kalley, Jonathan Lee, Tyler Rudolf and Marina Vorobyov, along with SCF alumna Rebecca Moore.

“Anton in Show Business,” written by Jane Martin, is a “backstage comedy” that follows three actresses as they pursue their dream of performing Chekhov in Texas. The Miami Herald called the play, winner of the 2001 American Theatre Critics Steinberg New Play Award, “Funny, smart, wry and poignant.”

The production is directed by Dean Anthony, SCF associate professor of theatre. This play contains adult situations and language.  Audience discretion is advised.

The Howard Studio Theatre is in Building 11 West, off 60th Avenue West between 26th and 34th streets, accessible from parking lot I.
