“Sweetgum Slough” Author to Discuss Memoir at SCF Venice

(Bradenton, Fla., April 15, 2015) – State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota (SCF) will host local author Claire Karssiens, who will discuss her book “Sweetgum Slough: A 1930s Florida Memoir” at noon Friday, April 17, at SCF Venice, 8000 S. Tamiami Trail, Building 800, Selby Room.

“Sweetgum Slough” is an autobiographical collection of stories that explores six years in Karssiens’ life in Depression-era Florida. The author is a native Floridian who has returned to the state in retirement after a career spent teaching in international schools, including the University of Barranquilla in Colombia.
