SCF President Probstfeld Presents Brain Bowl Team with National Championship Rings

(Bradenton, Fla., May 1, 2015) --SCF Brain Bowl Fire Team members were surprised with national championship rings by SCF President Dr. Carol F. Probstfeld at Honors Convocation. Hundreds of students were honored at convocations at SCF Bradenton and SCF Venice on Friday, May 1. Photos will be available later this week.

“I am so proud of our Brain Bowl students for their hard work and determination this season. These championship rings couldn’t be more well deserved,” Probstfeld said. “I hope this is the beginning of many more national championships for SCF.”

For the first time in the college's history, the SCF Brain Bowl Fire team won the 2015 National Community College Championship Tournament Feb. 27-28 and received an invitation to compete in the 2015 Intercollegiate Championship Tournament, the national championship for four-year schools, where they ranked ahead of prestigious Duke University and University of Alabama in the College Division II. The team also claimed first place in the Florida College System Activities Association (FCSAA) State Tournament at Pasco-Hernando State College March 13-14.
