(Bradenton, Fla., Jan. 10, 2017) — The music faculty for the State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota (SCF)  Music Program have selected 11 of their top students to compete in a state-wide competition for a $2,000 scholarship provided by the Florida College System Association. In preparation for this competition, these students will perform their competition pieces on at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 19 at SCF’s Neel Performing Arts Center in a Music Student Showcase concert.

The concert will be followed by a reception in the lobby of the Neel Performing Arts Center, 5840 26th St. W., so audience members can meet the best of SCF’s Music Program students and encourage them through to the competition. Refreshments will be provided.

Admission is $10, and donations will be accepted. Sponsored by the SCF Music Educators’ Club, the event will benefit SCF’s Music Programs and all proceeds will be used for music students’ activities.
