Workforce Solutions Offers Exporting Basics Workshop

(Bradenton, Fla., Feb. 16, 2016) — State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota (SCF) Workforce Solutions — in partnership with the Bradenton Area Economic Development Corporation, Economic Development Corporation of Sarasota County, Enterprise Florida, SBDC Florida and the U.S. Commercial Service — will present Export Basics 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 25, at SCF Lakewood Ranch, 7131 Professional Pkwy. E.

This event includes a workshop and panel discussion from local businesses for companies interested in launching or expanding the export of goods or services from Florida. Participants will learn how to start selling to markets thought to be not accessible. Increasing sales is the goal for any company wanting to succeed and 95 percent of the market for products and services is outside the United States.

The cost is $99 and includes lunch.  Reservations are required. Participants must bring a laptop or electronic device.

Attendees will learn how to prepare their company for exporting, identify target markets where their product can be sold, understand the regulations and common practices for selling internationally, identify appropriate channels and channel partners, calculate the landed cost for their products in the target market, and learn the options for receiving payment from international buyers.

Export Basics is the first of four courses in the Sarasota/Manatee Export Edge 2016 series.  Additional workshops are:
