Jazz Bands to Perform Big Band, Jazz, Popular Music

(Bradenton, Fla., Feb. 25, 2016) — State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota’s (SCF) Jazz Ensemble and Jazz Combo will give a concert at 8 p.m. Thursday, March 24, in Neel Performing Arts Center at SCF Bradenton, 5840 26th St. W. Admission is $8; area students $4.

The Ensemble and Combo will perform big band, jazz and popular music from a variety of style periods under the direction ofMarc Mannino, SCF director of jazz studies. During his time at SCF, he has expanded the music curriculum to include more offerings in the jazz, rock and pop genres. Mannino is a graduate of the Florida State University School of Music with degrees in music performance and music education.  

SCF Music Program also will hold scholarship auditions for students planning to enroll in the 2016-17 academic year at 9 a.m. Saturday, April 23, in Neel Performing Arts Center at SCF Bradenton. Students are not required to be a music major to be awarded a scholarship.
