Faculty Member Marc Mannino to Present Jazz Concert

(Bradenton, Fla., March 29, 2016) — State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota (SCF) music faculty member Marc Mannino will present an evening of jazz standards at 8 p.m. April 14 in Neel Performing Arts Center at SCF Bradenton, 5840 26th St. W.

Mannino is an accomplished jazz/pop guitarist and the director of jazz studies at SCF. He conducts SCF Jazz Ensemble and Combo and has expanded the music curriculum to include more offerings in the jazz, rock and pop genres. Mannino is a graduate of the Florida State University School of Music with degrees in music performance and music education. A lifelong music educator, he has taught kindergarten through post-secondary music. He is a veteran of the United States Air Force bands and has performed at major jazz and community festivals in Atlanta, Chattanooga, Knoxville, Memphis, Miami and Toronto, Canada.

Mannino has been the guitarist for many Florida productions of Broadway shows, including "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat," "Working," "The Last Five Years," "Altar Boyz," "Jesus Christ Superstar," "Swing" and "Johnny Guitar." Mannino recently served as the guitarist for Broadway star Idina Menzel at the Kravis Center in West Palm Beach and Bernadette Peters at Rudy Diamond Auditorium in Tallahassee.

Several years ago, Mannino directed State College of Florida's jazz bands at the University of Central Florida and the University of North Texas Jazz Festivals.

Tickets are $8; $4 for students and SCF staff.
