SCF Students Invited to Participate in Manatee County Hurricane Exercise

(Bradenton, Fla., March 29, 2016) – State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota (SCF) is partnering with Manatee County Emergency Operations on the 2016 Manatee County Hurricane Exercise set for May 20.

Homeland Security/Public Safety Administration students have been invited to participate in the training as volunteers with Manatee County’s first responders. This is an opportunity for students to get training and hours toward their Capstone Internship projects.

SCF received the invitation from the Disaster Preparedness and Prevention Committee of Manatee County. Having SCF students participate in the exercise “provides opportunities to strengthen the Emergency Management Program’s capabilities in preparedness, response and recovery from emergency events,” according to the committee.

The exercise is scheduled for 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. May 20 at the Manatee County Public Safety Center, Emergency Operations, 2101 47th Terrace E. in Bradenton.
