Symphonic Band and Manatee Concert Band to Present “A Night of Musical Journeys”

State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota (SCF) Symphonic Band and Manatee Concert Band will present “A Night of Musical Journeys” at 8 p.m. Thursday, April 7, at SCF Bradenton, 5840 26th St. W., in Neel Performing Arts Center, building 11 East.

The music involves traveling themes and includes “Parade of Tall Ships,” Savannah River Holiday” and “Among the Clouds.” It represents all sorts of travel from vacations to daydreaming to the journey for these musicians from college music students to life-long music makers. The audience will enjoy a mini vacation as they float along with the band on this night of journeys.

The Symphonic Band is directed by Dr. Robyn Bell, SCF director of instrumental studies, and is open to all woodwind, brass and percussion players with high school band experience. The Manatee Community Concert Band is in its 46th season and includes musicians from all walks of life from professional musicians to those who have taken up an instrument since retirement. Randy T. Gilmore is the conductor.
