SCF Students Awarded Paralegal Scholarships

(Bradenton, Fla., April 14, 2016) — The Suncoast Chapter of the Paralegal Association of Florida (PAF Suncoast) , a professional organization for paralegals in Manatee and Sarasota counties, awarded two State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota paralegal/legal assisting students $500 scholarships.

Iulliia Danilovitz and Elena Esposito received the scholarships. Amy J. Schaffer, of Grossman Roth and Partridge, and Eva N. Gonzalez, of Shapiro, Goldman, Babboni & Walsh, presented the scholarship checks to the students.

The scholarship is awarded annually in recognition of PAF Suncoast’s dedication to the advancement of education. The scholarship was established to assist people interested in becoming certified paralegals through the National Association of Legal Assistants (NALA).

The NALA Certified Legal Assistant/Certified Paralegal (CLA/CP), a nationally recognized certification for legal assistants and paralegals, is acknowledged by the legal community as a sign of professionalism and competence.

SCF graduates have achieved a 75 percent success rate on the NALA CLA/CP examination over the past two years.  Of that percentage, approximately half of the students were successful in passing all sections of the examination on their first attempt.

For more information about preparation courses for the NALA CLA/CP exam, contact Suzanne Bechtol, paralegal program manager at SCF, at (941) 752-5359 or bechtos@scf.edu.
