SCF Collegiate School Hosts Back-to-School Night, Orientations

(Bradenton, Fla., Aug. 2, 2016) — State College of Florida Collegiate School (SCFCS) has been busily preparing to welcome students back to campus Aug. 10 for the first day of school. The school will host a Back-to-School night for all returning students 4-6 p.m. Aug. 9, Building 19 at SCF Bradenton, 5840 26th St. W. Uniforms will be on sale in the SCFCS café. The school also will offer a uniform sale during tax free days 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Aug. 5 and 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Aug. 6 in the café.

Back-to-School night also will include an important informational session with 10th grade students at 5:30 p.m. in the theater room, 101. In addition, the school will host a series of orientation sessions this week. Students should plan to bring lunch to orientation.

  • Orientation for incoming 6th graders will be held 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Aug. 3-4. Parents are invited to attend a question and answer session at 3 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 4.
  • Orientation for new 7th and 8th graders will be held 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, Aug. 5. Parents may join teachers at 1 p.m. for a question and answer session.
  • New 9th and 10th graders should plan to attend orientation 9 a.m to 4 p.m. Aug. 8. Parents may participate in a question and answer session at 4 p.m.
  • Orientation for 11th graders is mandatory and will be held Aug. 17. Parents may join from 4:30 to 6:15 p.m. Junior picture day is Aug. 16 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in building 14.
  • Mandatory senior night is 6-8 p.m. Aug. 15 in building 29. Topics covered include graduation requirements, senior portrait day, AST/ACT, Bright Futures and other scholarship programs and Financial Aid.

SCFCS is Manatee County’s only college preparatory charter school and one of just a handful of schools to consistently earn an A from the state. It is the first college-operated charter middle school where students have an opportunity to study on a college campus. Students who attend SCFCS can earn their Associate in Arts degree from State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota tuition-free during their junior and senior years. Classes for those students begin Aug. 22.
