SCF, Manatee-Sarasota Music Students’ Fall Festival of Music is Debut Concert of the Year

(Bradenton, Fla., Sept. 22, 2016) — State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota (SCF) music students will present their first concert of the 2016-17 academic year at 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 6, in SCF’s Neel Performing Arts Center, 5840 26th St. W.

The Fall Festival of Music, presented by the SCF Music Ensembles, will feature a variety of selections from jazz to traditional to classical. The ensembles include the Concert and Chamber Choirs, directed by Melodie Dickerson, SCF’s director of Music Program; Symphonic Band, directed by Dr. Robyn Bell, director of Instrumental Studies; Guitar Ensemble, directed by Rex Willis, director of Guitar and Composition Studies; and the Jazz Combo and Jazz Band, directed by Dr. Pete Carney, SCF’s new director of Jazz Studies.

General admission is $8; students and SCF employees, $4. Neel Performing Arts Center Box Office hours are 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday; and one hour before each scheduled performance. During the construction of SCF’s new Library and Learning Center, parking for SCF’s Neel Performing Arts Center will be west of Building 11, in Parking Lot I. Entrance to the auditorium will remain on the east side of the building, with a drop-off area directly to the south of the front doors. Signs along 60th Avenue West and the drive lanes on campus will guide patrons to the drop-off area and parking.
