USFSM Accepts 14 SCF Collegiate School Students During Instant Decision Days

(Bradenton, Fla., Oct. 27, 2016) — More than a dozenState College of Florida Collegiate School (SCFCS) seniors were accepted into the University of South Florida Sarasota-Manatee (USFSM) during Instant Decision Days Oct. 17-18.

Seniors interested in transferring to USFSM after they graduate from State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota met with college and career counselors visiting the Collegiate School from USFSM. During the two-day visit 14 SCFCS students were admitted to USFSM. All of the students had already submitted their applications and provided transcripts and college admission test scores.

“This offers a wonderful opportunity for our students to continue their college educations,” said Kelly Monod, head of the Collegiate School. “The partnership with USFSM also means they won’t have to pay tuition, allowing them to graduate without the burden of college debt.”

Last spring, USFSM announced that it will offer scholarships to SCFCS graduates who transfer to the university. Under the scholarship program, USFSM will pick up tuition costs and fees not covered by other scholarships or other sources of financial aid and will provide a one-time $600 book allowance to the scholarship recipients.

The tuition award covers students’ unmet tuition charges for 60 credit hours of education beyond their Associate of Arts degree or up to three years, whichever comes first. The program is for undergraduate course work only and students must maintain continuous fulltime academic status – registering for at least 12 credit hours in each of the fall and spring semesters – in order to qualify for the scholarship.

"We are excited about our new scholarship program with the State College of Florida Collegiate School and having more SCFCS students enrolling on our campus,” said Andy Telatovich, Director of Admissions and Financial Aid.  “They are high-achieving, motivated students that are a great fit for our campus community.  Our admissions counselors enjoyed our first ever SCFCS instant decision days and seeing the immediate relief on the student’s faces knowing that they were admitted to USFSM.
