SCF, Manatee-Sarasota to Honor Veterans Week of November 7

(Bradenton, Fla., Nov. 3, 2016) — State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota (SCF) will celebrate its student veterans with several activities in Bradenton and Venice and a big announcement during Veterans Week, Nov. 7-11.

Veterans won’t go hungry during Veterans Week as SCF kicks off the week-long recognition of service members with coffee and donuts on both the Bradenton and Venice campusesMonday morning. Other treats throughout the week include free lunch on Tuesday and an ice cream social on Thursday. Veterans will receive a $25 gift card to the SCF store Wednesday. The benefits are limited to student veterans attending SCF.  Student veterans who are not already affiliated with Veterans Services should be prepared to show a military ID, a DD214 or a driver’s license with a “V” identifier.

SCF will welcome veterans’ service organizations on the campuses as well, including Veterans Administration Health Benefits representatives, Goodwill Manasota, Vocational Rehab, Jewish Family & Children’s Service, SCF Career Resource Center and Sarasota Vet Center.

The highlight of the week will come Tuesday, Nov. 8 at 2:30 p.m. Building 60 (portables), Room 101 at SCF Bradenton in which the Veterans Outreach Center will announce expanded services for SCF’s veteran students. Service members are encouraged to bring patches for the patch board in Veterans Services.
