Randy Allen Gilmore Named Outstanding SCF, Manatee-Sarasota Graduate

(Bradenton, Fla., Dec. 16, 2016) —  State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota (SCF) honored nursing student Randy Allen Gilmore with its Outstanding Graduate Award. Gilmore, a U.S. Navy Veteran, graduated Friday, Dec. 16, with his Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing. To be named an Outstanding Graduate graduates must have shown superior leadership, academic achievement and community service while attending SCF. 

Gilmore, who served as an intelligence specialist, is truly a life-long learner. He is a member of the SCF Nursing Honor Society and just completed the RN to BSN program at SCF. Gilmore, who maintained a 3.5 grade point average at SCF while working full time, has been accepted into a Family Nurse Practitioner program at Indiana State University, where he plans to get his master’s degree. Gilmore has been a member of the American Nurses Association for the past 10 years. He also has worked as a firefighter. He is described as a natural leader with a commitment to scholarship and a spirit of inquiry.

He began his nursing career in 1996 as he took on the role of a nurse tech. Prior to enrolling at SCF, Gilmore received his Associate in Science in Nursing in 2000 and a Bachelor of Health Science in 2013.

Gilmore is an active volunteer with Meals on Wheels and the American Cancer Society’s annual Relay for Life events. He has a wife and two children.
