SCF Board Report: January 26, 2016

State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota (SCF) District Board of Trustees held its regular monthly meeting January 26 at SCF Lakewood Ranch.

Dr. Probstfeld introduced new Trustee member Peter Logan and thanked Charlene Neal for her service on the Board.

The Board approved:

  • Non-financial and financial revised consent agenda items
  • A Memorandum of Understanding with Manatee and Sarasota County School Districts for the Collegiate School agreement to continue through July 31, 2017.
  • SCFCS Florida Consortium of Public Charter Schools Salary Allocation Framework
  • The Remodel of the Nursing Simulation Lab in Building 29. The project was competitively bid and awarded to J2 Solutions for $208,431.00
  • The contract for the remodeling of the Food Servery at SCF Venice. The board approved the contract for $296,625 with Delesline Construction.

The Board approved the revised and new rules related to:

  • Employment Contracts, Generally – the revised rule states that contractual arrangements and salary schedules for all personnel are recommended by the College administration to the Board of Trustees on a yearly basis. Contract forms are approved by the District Board of Trustees and will only be issued for nine months of service, ten months of service, twelve months of service and other lengths of service as deemed appropriate or necessary. Contracts for all instructional and administrative personnel shall include length of service, salary, position and approval by the President and Board of Trustees.
  • Employment Contracts for Full-Time Faculty – the new rule states the Board of Trustees may establish full-time faculty positions that are not eligible for continuing contracts. These positions may be eligible for one year or multiple year contracts as the Board may determine. Multiple year contracts may not exceed three years. Beginning July 1, 2016, the College will no longer offer continuing contracts to new employees.

 The next board meeting is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. on February 23 at SCF Lakewood Ranch.
