SCF Manatees Softball Player Jessica Harney Named NJCAA Player of the Week

(Bradenton, Fla., March 23, 2017) — Jessica Harney, a sophomore who plays first base for the softball team at State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota (SCF), has been named the National Junior College Athletic Association Region 8 Softball Player of the Week. The honor was for her play during the week ending March 12. 

Harney batted .632 (12-for-19) with nine runs scored, six doubles, two home runs and 12 RBIs in six games during the voting period, helping the SCF Manatees to a 5-1 record that week. In addition, she scored a run in each game and hit safely in five of six games. Harney hit a home run and drove in three runs in the first game of a doubleheader against St. Petersburg College, and was 2-for-3 with two doubles and two RBIs in a game against South Florida State. Finally, she was a perfect 7-for-7 with four runs scored, four doubles, one grand slam home run and seven RBIs in a doubleheader against El Paso.
