SCF Manatees Brendon Little Named NJCAA Pitcher of the Week

(Bradenton, Fla., April 6, 2017) — Brendon Little, a left-handed pitcher for State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota (SCF), was named the NJCAA Pitcher of the Week, just two days after being voted the Region 8 Pitcher of the Week for March 27-April 2. 

The NJCAA named Little the national Pitcher of the Week while he was on the mound against Florida Southwestern State College on Wednesday. Little pitched the SCF Manatees to a 7-5 victory Wednesday evening. Little finished Wednesday's game with seven innings pitched, allowing two runs on five hits.  He struck out ten and didn't allow a walk. He learned about the NJCAA Pitcher of the Week honors in the team huddle after the game.

In his only appearance of the voting period, Little was impressive. Against Suncoast Conference foe, South Florida State College, he pitched eight innings and allowed just one run. Little struck out the last eight batters he faced and did not allow a walk during the 15 strike-out game.

The Baseball America pre-season third team All-America pitcher was 1-0 on the week with a 1.13 ERA. Little is 2-2 with a 2.29 ERA for the season. He has earned 86 strikeouts in 55 innings pitched, equivalent to 14.09 strikeouts per nine innings pitched.
