SCF, Manatee-Sarasota Dean of Nursing Finalist for Healthcare Award

(Bradenton, Fla., May 18, 2017) — Beverly Hindenlang, dean of nursing at State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota (SCF), has been named a finalist for the Champions of Healthcare Award. Hindenlang is one of three finalists in the Individual of Merit category.

The Manatee Chamber of Commerce will host the fifth annual Champions of Healthcare Awards during a breakfast 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. May 25 at the Polo Grill, 10670 Boardwalk Loop, Lakewood Ranch. Sponsors include Manatee Memorial Hospital, Blake Medical Center and Florida Blue.

In nominating Hindenlang, SCF pointed to work she has done to forge a partnership with Lake Erie College of Medicine (LECOM) to bring medical students into Lakewood Ranch Medical Technology and Simulation Center, where they can work in simulated patient situations with experienced nurses who are pursuing their BSN degrees. The nomination also pointed out that in most of the years Hindenlang has directed the nursing program, SCF graduates have received pass rates above 90 percent on the national nursing exams to obtain an RN license.

Hindenlang earned her Doctor of Nursing Practice from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio, in 2007. She was named SCF’s dean of nursing in 2012 and will retire this year.
