Benchmark EnviroAnalytical, Inc. Hires SCF BioTech Students

(Bradenton, Fla., June 11, 2017) — Two biotechnology students atState College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota (SCF) recently accepted positions at Benchmark EnviroAnalytical Inc. in Palmetto. Faith Walker, who is set to graduate this Fall, joined the Palmetto company after she completed her Spring semester. Chris Eicher joined the company in June and will serve his internship there to complete his biotechnology degree.

Benchmark has been providing environmental sampling and analytical services since 1992. The laboratory is owner-operated with 30 employees and two Florida locations, in Palmetto and North Port. Members of the company’s technical managerial staff are degreed scientists. Environmental analytical and field sampling experience includes surface water, storm water, groundwater and sediment/soil projects.

“SCF graduates who have joined Benchmark are very well trained for laboratory analytical work including the understanding of quality control and ethics in documentation,” said Dale Dixon, laboratory director at BenchmarkEA. “The SCF biotech program is graduating people ready for hands-on laboratory employment. I feel fortunate to have this resource in my neighborhood.”

Walker completed an internship with Wellspring Pharmaceutical in the Spring. Eicher and Walker joined several SCF alumni at Benchmark, including Nicole Soler, this year’s outstanding biotech graduate. Soler, who began working at Benchmark in the Fall, was recently promoted.
