Lean Manufacturing Course to be Offered at SCF, Manatee-Sarasota

(Bradenton, Fla., August 24, 2017) — State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota (SCF) will offer a course on Lean Manufacturing this Fall at SCF Lakewood Ranch, 7131 Professional Parkway E. Lean Manufacturing seeks to implement business processes that achieve high quality, safety and worker morale while reducing costs and shortening lead times.

Classes will be held from 8 a.m. to noon Fridays from Oct. 6 to Dec. 15. The 40-hour course costs $1,100 a person, including books and materials.

Introduction to Lean Manufacturing is designed to provide a fundamental understanding of Lean concepts and a clear understanding of how the concepts can be applied, and is suitable for staff at all levels. The course brings Lean Manufacturing to life through team-building, hands-on exercises, video and classroom instruction.

Upon successful completion of the course, participants will be eligible to take the SME or ASQ Lean Bronze exam. Participants also may be eligible to receive 3 credit hours toward an A.S. degree in Engineering Technology.
