SCF to Present Fall Festival of Music

(Bradenton, Fla., Oct. 3, 2017) — State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota (SCF) will host a Fall Festival of Music at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 5 at SCF’s Neel Performing Arts Center, 5840 26th St. W. The College music department’s fall debut concert will feature SCF’s Guitar Ensemble, Concert and Chamber Choirs, Big Band, Jazz Combo and Symphonic Band presenting selections celebrating the “Great American Adventure.” 

SCF’s Chamber Choir will open the evening with “The Star-Spangled Banner” followed by a collection of George Gershwin hits. The SCF Guitar Ensemble will continue the theme with American folk tunes including “You’re a Grand Old Flag” and “When Johnny Comes Marching Home Again.” 

The festival also will highlight the premiere of two new jazz ensembles. The Latin Rock Band will perform “Bang Bang” by Joe Cuba and Jimmy Sabater. The Jazz Passport Collective will present “Ja-Da” by Bob Carlton. The combined Concert and Chamber Choirs accompanied by the SCF Symphonic Band will conclude the program with a grand finale performance of “America the Beautiful.”
