The Western Sons and Matt Walden Team Up for Homecoming Concert at SCF

(Bradenton, Fla., Oct. 26, 2017) — “The Western Sons” will team up with singer-songwriter Matt Walden in a two-hour concert at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 18 at the State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota (SCF) Neel Performing Arts Center, 5840 26th St. W. The concert, presented by the State College of Florida Foundation, is a homecoming of sorts for the musicians, two of whom hail from Bradenton. General admission tickets are $20.

Walden, an SCF alumnus, will open for “The Western Sons” with a 45-minute set featuring his original music. Walden began writing songs in 2011 geared toward “giving the listener a sense of nostalgia or an escape from their everyday troubles.” His first original single, “Flipped the Script,” was released in May 2015 and charted at #38 on the iTunes Singer-Songwriter chart. His first EP, “Life,” was released the following July and on its first day of presales, hit #7 on the iTunes Singer-Songwriter Top Album chart.

Headliner "The Western Sons," based in Nashville, are all Floridians who started playing together as students at the University of South Florida (USF). According to their website, their music is "somewhere between pop-rock that your dad would approve of and dad-rock that your sister would groove to." Bandmembers are Bradenton’s own Tyler Cohenour, vocals and guitar; Garrett Carr, vocals and bass guitar; Blake Rigdon, lead guitar and keys; and Nick Benik, drums and production.
