Fiber Artist & Photographer Exhibit Work at MCC Venice
(Venice, Fla., Dec. 8, 2004) - An exhibit of works by fiber artist Sue Hosey and photographer Carter Wade will open with a reception from 5 to 6 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 11, at the Manatee Community College (MCC) Venice Fine Art Gallery, 8000 S. Tamiami Trail. The reception is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served.
Hosey, a Nokomis resident, uses natural materials she gathers, collects, processes, dyes and weaves to create baskets and gourd vessels. She sells works in her LuckyStone Studio. A former teacher who raised three children in New York, she continues to travel between the two states with her husband.
Wade, a Sarasota resident, is a graduate of the Rocky Mountain School of Photography and has worked in the custom frame-shop business. He uses that experience to create unique displays of photography in custom-made frames.
The exhibit, located in the library foyer, continues through Feb. 18. Regular gallery hours are 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday. For more information, call (941) 408-1476.
