Unique Mixed-Media Artwork in MCC Exhibit
(Bradenton, Fla., Jan. 12, 2005) - Unique, mixed-media artwork by Margaret Murphy-Reed will be showcased in a Visual Dialogue exhibit that opens with a free reception from 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, Jan. 28, in the Manatee Community College (MCC) Fine Art Gallery, building number 10, at MCC Bradenton, 5840 26th St. West. Refreshments will be served at the reception. The exhibit continues through Feb. 24.
Described as fresh and intuitive, Murphy-Reed's work utilizes myriad objects reclaimed from tangible and abstract refuse to create mysterious and tactile images that reflect society's physical and emotional discards. She has a diverse background in print, paper and bookmaking and encaustics. Exhibited in museums in Florida and Michigan, her work also appears in numerous private collections and has been commissioned by major corporations.
