MCC Lakewood Ranch Exhibit Showcases Art by French Students
(Bradenton, Fla., March 23, 2005) - The 2005 Third Annual International Internet Artwork Exchange exhibit showcasing graphics and fine art by French students will open with a reception at 3 p.m., Thursday, April 14, in the first-floor foyer of the Center for Innovation and Technology (CIT) at Manatee Community College (MCC) Lakewood Ranch, 7131 Professional Parkway East. The exhibit by students attending Ecole Supérieure d'Art de Perpignan (ESAP) is the result of a digital exchange of artworks by MCC and ESAP students with the technical help and expertise of art directors and faculty at both schools.
This is the third artwork exchange sponsored by MCC and the Sarasota Sister Cities Association. The first two were with Lauder College of Dunfermline, Scotland, and Vladimir State Pedagogical University, Russia. Participating MCC faculty include Joseph Loccisano, Sue Wyar, Sherri Hill, Drew Webster and Dan Christensen. The project was initiated by Dr. Thomas Davenport, director of workforce development, and Darlene Wedler-Johnson, dean of arts and letters & social and behavioral sciences, at MCC, and Roberta Somach of the Sarasota Sister Cities Association.
The artwork will be in MCC and ESAP permanent collections. The exhibits are free and open to the public. For more information, call (941) 752-5225.
