MCC Hosts Earth Day Celebration April 22
(Bradenton, Fla., April 13, 2005) - Manatee Community College (MCC) will host an Earth Day celebration sponsored by the college's Earth Club from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., Friday, April 22, at MCC Bradenton, 5840 26th St. West. The day's theme will be "Sustainable Living in Florida." A highlight will be a presentation with live animals by Sarasota Jungle Gardens to be held 11:45 to 12:30 p.m. in the Student Union. The band, Stone Soup, will perform from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
This year's celebration marks the 35th anniversary of Earth Day, a day set aside to celebrate the Earth and bring attention to environmental issues. The Southwest Florida Water Management District and Sustainable Sarasota are two other participants in the MCC celebration. A variety of outdoor Expo booths will offer educational materials. A camp site will illustrate the dos and don'ts of safe camping. Hybrid cars and natural foods are other topics that will be explored.
