Internationally Acclaimed Guitarist Performs at MCC
(Bradenton, Fla., Feb. 21, 2006) - Czech classical guitarist and recording artist Vladislav Bláha will perform at 8 p.m., Wednesday, March 15, in Neel Performing Arts Center, located off 26th Street at 60th Avenue West, Manatee Community College (MCC) Bradenton. The internationally acclaimed guitarist has recorded five solo CDs and won first place in competitions in Greece, Hungary, the Czech Republic and Germany.
Bláha has given concerts in most European countries, the United States, Asia and Latin America, and he has worked in broadcasting and television. Critics have praised him for being a "splendid musician" and "brilliant with his virtuosity" and he is recognized as one of Europe's finest guitarists. A professor at the Brno Conservatoire in the Czech Republic, Bláha frequently gives master classes and performs at international festivals. His repertoire includes everything from Renaissance to avant-garde pieces and he has been honored by 18 composers from around the world with works dedicated to him. One of those, the famous Usher Waltz by Russian composer Nikita Koshkin, will be performed on the MCC stage. Other works to be performed include Panomimi, La vida breve, Americana, Dance of Corregidor, Love Song, Farruca, Capriccio N. 24, Jumble Suite, Introduction of Visions (Toccata) and Hora -- Romanian Dance.
