MCC Jazz Ensemble Concert March 2
(Bradenton, Fla., Feb. 23, 2006) - The Manatee Community College (MCC) Jazz Ensemble will perform at 8 p.m., Thursday, March 2, in Neel Performing Arts Center, located off 26th Street at 60th Avenue West.
Directed by Marc Mannino, the 10-piece ensemble will play works by Thelonious Monk, Sonny Rollins, Dave Brubeck, Jerome Kern, Oscar Hammerstein and Wayne Shorter. In addition, the MCC Jazz Quartet will be directed by student Devin Neel. He recently won the award for jazz improvisation at the Florida Community College Activities Association Winter Music Symposium. Neel will receive a $1,000 renewable scholarship to a Florida college or university of his choice.
