MCC Professor Receives National Merit Award
(Bradenton, Fla., Sept. 25, 2006) -- Dr. Susan Finlay, Manatee Community College (MCC) social and behavioral sciences professor, received the 2006 John Fry Individual Merit Award from the National Counsel for Staff, Program and Organizational Development (NCSPOD). She will accept her award and make a presentation at the NCSPOD annual conference, to be held Nov. 1 through 4 in Ft. Worth, Texas.
Finlay is a member of the college's Faculty Professional Development Team, which won an International Leadership Award from The Chair Academy. Her name has appeared in Who's Who in America and Who's Who Among America's Teachers. She has an Ed.D. from the University of South Florida Tampa.
"Susan has conducted major research on faculty development in Florida and is an active member of the Florida Faculty Development Consortium. She has been a driving force in establishing quality professional development at MCC," said Darlene Wedler-Johnson, dean, arts and letters & social and behavioral sciences.
The NCSPOD is an affiliate council of the American Association of Community Colleges and provides services for members throughout the United States and Canada. Its mission is to increase institutional vitality by providing professional growth opportunities for members that enable them to establish, enhance and/or revitalize staff programs, and facilitate organizational development.
