Arts & Letters Day at MCC Venice
(Bradenton, Fla., Oct. 9, 2006) - A student art exhibit, drama workshop and music, poetry and film events are all on the agenda for an Arts and Letters Day, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 14, at Manatee Community College (MCC) Venice, 8000 S. Tamiami Trail. All the events are free and open to the public.
- 10 a.m., drama workshop, Venice Little Theatre, the winner of more awards than any community theatre in Florida or in the Southeastern United States, room 307, Library;
- 11 a.m., open microphone for musicians, other performers, poets and prose writers, sponsored by the Swamp Scribes Club, outside Academic Resource Center, building 400;
- Noon, MCC Chamber Choir concert directed by Melodie Dickerson, Selby Community Room, Professional Development Center, building 800; and
- 1 p.m., The Southernmost Point, 50-minute film produced in an MCC Film Style Production class and subsequently showcased in Sarasota's 2005 Cine-World Film Festival and the Sedona (Ariz.) International Film Festival.
