Winners of Pentangle Magazine Competition Announced
(Bradenton, Fla., Dec. 13, 2006) - Winners of the Manatee Community College (MCC) 2006/07 Pentangle magazine art competition have been announced. Their works are eligible to appear in the award-winning humanities magazine, which will be published in the spring. Awards include a $125 Best of Show and three judge's choice awards of $25 each.
The Best-in-Show winner is Tarek Abdel-Fattah for his mixed-media series titled "Red Nebula." Judge's Choice winners are Nemanja Popovic, photography; Gundel "Danni" Sullivan, photography; Patrick Raab, photography; and Megan Capo, intaglio diptych. Ashley Bench won a Special Judge's Merit award for an untitled monotype series.
Robert Farber, a Ringling School of Art and Design faculty member, judged the exhibition. The recipient of numerous artists' grants, Farber's visual artwork has been exhibited throughout Florida and the United States. Most recently, an exhibit inspired by the landscape and architecture of Chattanooga, Tenn., was displayed in The Gallery in Chattanooga.
Submitted works may be viewed 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday in Art Building number 10, MCC Bradenton, 5840 26th St. West. The exhibit continues through Jan. 11. The building will be closed for Winter Break Dec. 19 through Jan. 1. For more information, call (941) 752-5225.
