MCC Film Selected for Portland Film Festival
(Bradenton, Fla., Feb. 15, 2007) - See Rock City, a short film by Manatee Community College (MCC) faculty and students, has been accepted for screening in Willamette Week's Longbaugh Film Festival. Known as Portland, Oregon's most diverse, eclectic showcase for the best independent films from around the world, the festival will be held March 29 through April 1.
The chosen film was produced in a class taught by Assistant Professor Doug Osman and debuted in November in the Cine-World Film Festival at Burns Court Cinemas, Sarasota. It focuses on a day in the life of a seriously ill woman traveling to Atlanta to make her last onstage appearance as a singer. She is accompanied by two friends who don't like each other. Broadway actress Annie Morrison plays the central character. Other cast members are MCC graduate Susan Jones Mannino, who has appeared in Asolo Theatre and other professional theatre productions, and Steven Hill, an MTV "The Real World - Las Vegas" cast member. He also has appeared in the soap opera, "Passions," and a television reality show about the making of a horror film.
Another film produced by an MCC film production class, The Southernmost Point, premiered in Sarasota's 2005 Cine-World Film Festival and was a showcased film in the prestigious Sedona International Film Festival in Sedona, Ariz., last year.
