Classical Guitar Trio Performs at Neel
(Bradenton, Fla., April 23, 2007) - Internationally renowned classical guitarist Stephen Robinson will perform solo and with Manatee Community College (MCC) faculty members Marc Mannino and Rex Willis at 4 p.m., Sunday, April 29, in Neel Performing Arts Center, located on 60th Avenue West between 26th and 34th Streets West at MCC Bradenton. The trio of former college classmates is performing together for the first time. The concert will include music by Jobim, Dyens, Albéniz, Willis and the Beatles.
Called "one of the most brilliant guitarists of our times" by Andrés Segovia, Robinson has won top prizes in five major international competitions and received critical acclaim for his recordings. He performs worldwide and is founding director of the Stetson University (Deland, Fla.) guitar program and the Stetson International Guitar Workshop.
Guitarist Marc Mannino, director of the MCC Jazz Ensemble, is a popular soloist for fine-dining establishments throughout Florida. He has played with the United States Air Force Jazz Band, University of South Florida and Florida State University bands, Frank Brown Big Band and Larry Elgart Orchestra.
Compositions by Willis have been performed all over the world. He has released CDs, written film music scores and created and hosts "Guitar Unplugged," a weekly TV show on Channel 21, METV, in Manatee County.
