Information Session About Teaching Certification Program
(Bradenton, Fla., Aug. 23, 2007) - Manatee Community College (MCC) will host an information session about its teaching certification preparation program, for noneducation majors with at least a bachelor's degree, at 6:30 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 18, in room 147/148, Student Union, building 14, MCC Bradenton, 5840 26th St. West.
After finishing all courses in the program and passing required state and college exams, participants will receive certificates of completion that make them eligible for the Florida Department of Education's professional teaching certificate. Evening and weekend scheduling of classes allows working professionals to participate.
The cost of MCC's alternative certification program (ACP) is approximately $2,000. MCC was one of the first colleges to develop an ACP when the programs were authorized by the Florida Legislature in an attempt to address the state's critical teacher shortage.
