MCC Nursing Faculty Member Honored
(Bradenton, Fla., Nov. 26, 2007) - Sara H. Delesie, assistant professor in the Manatee Community College (MCC) Nursing Department, was named a lifetime member of the Florida Nursing Students' Association (FNSA). It is the highest honor the Association can bestow and Delesie is only the 27th person to merit the award in the FNSA's 53-year history.
With MCC for five years, Delesie organized a Student Nurses Association (SNA) chapter at MCC Bradenton. In addition to supporting and mentoring MCC students, she has encouraged faculty involvement. She was formerly advisor to an SNA chapter at Hillsborough Community College (HCC) and has supported the FNSA at local, state and national levels for more than 15 years.
"My love for SNA and student nurses will continue as the organization represents the core of professionalism for the nursing student," said Delesie.
Delesie was presented with the award during the FNSA's Annual Convention, which was held Oct. 30 through Nov. 2 in Orlando. The event attracted more than 1,500 nursing students, guests, faculty and nursing leaders from across the state.
Delesie, R.N., has an associate in science degree from HCC, a bachelor's degree from the University of South Florida and a master's degree from the University of Phoenix.
