MCC on National Hispanic Magazine's Publisher's Picks List
(Bradenton, Fla., Nov. 29, 2007) -- Manatee Community College (MCC) is one of 10 community colleges in the state of Florida on a nationwide 2007 Publisher's Picks list that appeared in the Nov. 19 issue of The Hispanic Outlook in Higher Education magazine. Twenty-two community colleges and universities were named in Florida.
Publisher José López-Isa said the annual list recognizes colleges and universities across the country where Hispanic students can "thrive and persist." He applauds the institutions named for enabling a 67 percent enrollment increase of Hispanic students in higher education between 1994 and 2004.
"The sheer number of Hispanics persisting to graduation and earning degrees is rising and very heartening, especially when graduation represents a family first. The positive ripple effects of college education are well documented," said López-Isa.
